In short, repurposing your content means taking a piece of content you’ve created for your brand and spreading it across multiple platforms where you intend to market your product or service. This strategy helps you create more content consistently, saves time, and gives you a smoother workflow and more breathing space. You work with your strengths instead of force-creating just for the sake of posting.
1. Choose the platforms you want to publish on
Start by choosing the platforms you plan to use and identifying what type of content each platform requires.
Blogs – Writing
Instagram – Videos, photos, and captions
YouTube – Videos
LinkedIn – Videos, photos, and writing…and so on.
2. Start by writing your content first
What I usually do is start with writing. I either use ChatGPT or research the problems my audience faces and the solutions I can offer. For example, as a content strategist and video creator, my job is to help my audience understand why having a content strategy matters, and how video can help them break through the noise and stand out.
Here are the types of questions I begin with (either from ChatGPT or research):
What is a content strategy?
Why is your content not reaching your audience?
What’s the difference between content that connects and content that doesn’t?
How can you film your videos using an iPhone?
Should you film with an iPhone or a professional camera?
3. Turn the answers into a blog
Next, I turn these answers into a blog — nothing too long or too short, just a simple guideline that explains my perspective. I pair my points with examples or personal stories to keep the content human, personable, and relatable.
4. Match your content to the platforms you chose
Using my example:
My platforms are my website, Instagram, and YouTube.
Before creating, I identify my fears and discomforts. For example, I’m an introvert, extremely shy on camera, and I don’t have advanced videography skills. Since writing doesn’t scare me, I start with only writing first.
Now that I’ve already published blogs on my website, it’s time to repurpose them for Instagram and YouTube.
5. Repurpose the blog into platform-friendly formats
I can turn the blog into:
a 10-post carousel
include images or photos of myself
slowly reveal my face in a way that still feels comfortable
YouTube
I can turn the blog into:
a simplified, conversational video script
a voice-over video (AI voice or my own)
paired with:clips I’ve filmed
slides
stock footage
6. Build a system that keeps content creation comfortable
Once this system is in place, I can create content consistently and comfortably—without force-creating or burning out.
From here, I can slowly expand my comfort zone by improving the content I post. For example:
On Instagram, I can evolve from carousels to voice-over videos.
On YouTube, since I’m used to voice-overs, I can begin pairing them with behind-the-scenes clips of myself working or even day-to-day moments — an upgrade from voice-over + stock footage.
Summary
Start by making a list of questions or challenges your customers or audience are facing. Approach the content in the simplest, easiest, no-drama way first — for me, that’s writing.
Then identify the platforms where you want to publish your content and slowly work your way up from there.
The goal is not to create the perfect, trend-breaking piece of content.
The goal is to build a system that works for you, keeps you consistent, and makes you feel energised and motivated.
Sometimes, you don’t even need to film videos — you can stick to writing and posting written carousels if that’s what drives you.
It’s not about what everyone else is doing or chasing trends.
It’s about showing up as your true self and creating content that aligns with you and your brand.
Remember that.
