Beyond Strong is a fitness and nutrition community led by Lizzie Wright in Singapore.
This film was created to share what the member experience feels like,
through real voices and moments from one of her outdoor boot camps.

The goal of this video was to let the experience speak for itself. Instead of scripted testimonials or corporate-style interviews, I focused on having relaxed conversations with Lizzie’s members during the boot camp—capturing their emotions, reflections, and personal insights in a natural, unforced way.

By documenting real moments during and after the workouts, the video highlights the sense of community, encouragement, and shared effort that defines Beyond Strong. Keeping the tone relatable and non-salesy allows viewers to connect with the stories and imagine themselves as part of the experience, rather than feeling like they’re being sold to.

Customer testimonial videos are extremely important for any brand selling a product or service. Word of mouth builds trust, and when potential customers can relate to real experiences, it often leads to quicker and more confident decisions. In many cases, it almost secures the deal.

That said, everyone knows this. When testimonial videos feel too pushy or overly polished, they can become hard to believe—leaving viewers thinking, “Meh” or “Is this really true?” That’s why the direction of testimonial videos needs to be handled with care.

For this project, I had a discussion with Lizzie before the shoot to understand what she wanted to draw out from her clients—the key messages, testimonials, and overall structure. From there, I approached the shoot through natural conversations, gently steering them toward Lizzie’s brief rather than forcing scripted answers.

As a generalist, I’m not deeply versed in fitness goals or the fitness world, and that actually worked in our favour. In many ways, I represent a large group of people who are curious about fitness, want to get started, or simply want to understand it better. With this mindset, my questions were directed at what most of us would want to know—real challenges, honest solutions, personal stories, and how Lizzie’s classes have impacted their lives in a down-to-earth, easy-to-understand way.

At the end of the day, it’s about being real and personable. Sharing stories that connect, and giving viewers the space to form their own opinions and beliefs as they watch—rather than being told what to think.
